Rant of the Week

So I've pretty much done my last few Rants of the Week after midnight on Friday. I suppose I could start making Friday the day of days, but then everyone does stuff on Friday. Nobody ever does stuff on Thursday. Thus, we will continue...

I'm sure I've said it before, but it needs mentioning again. I hate the university system. That's right, I hate it. "Why, Ben? Why do you hate it so?" you might ask. Well, it's the whole idea that I should initiate all forms of communication to learn or do things. Some may say that we're adults now, so this is good training for the rest of our lives. But what if we don't know that we need to know or do things?

All the new students need to know all the rules for living in the dorms. They might arrive only hours before quiet hours go into effect, but are subject to those rules. How are they supposed to know? It's impossible for each RA/PA/staff member to personally talk to each person, especially if the RA/PA/staff member doesn't know that person is here. Why don't we just give all the rules to them when they register? I recently changed majors. There is a little booklet that has all the buisness classes required, but noone told me that I have to take like 4 or 5 classes that are all pre-reqs to each other. Now, I'm stuck trying to get into 2 classes that don't seem to be open other than Saturday or online classes if I want to graduate next May. Why can't they just tell me these things when I change my major? It seems that schools would get much more business with much more satisfaction if they start streamlining their modes of operation, and become more "user-friendly."

not a bad start, but that's barely worth being called a "rant". if you want a real rant on university and all the greatness thereof, talk to myself or spork.
