That's right, rants, plural. I have two - one about anti-Microsoft people, and one about the horrible economy, which is really good.
One:
It's interesting that so many people hate Microsoft. "They're too big!" or "They make too much money!" or "They're trying to take over/control/destroy our lives!" Yet these same people either use or benefit from Microsoft technology every day. Microsoft operating systems are on the vast majority of computers in the world - Windows, Microsoft software is run on those operating systems - Office, and Microsoft servers serve the millions of users who use those systems - Windows Server, Exchange Server; millions of non-Microsoft programs were designed and developed using Microsoft developer tools - Visual Studio; millions of guys (and a few gals) are entertained daily on Microsoft-based gaming systems - XBox; millions of people get their news every day from MSNBC or their email through Hotmail.
Microsoft has done lots of good things. Besides connecting the world through technology, they donate millions - if not billions - of dollars to various charities every year. They are a success story of capitalism: they make products that people want, and do good things with the profits. While employees may be paid gazillions of dollars, they earned it. (much like the professional athletes who are paid with money that comes from ticket sales that we pay and advertising revenue)
Two:
I hate it when people say the economy is bad when it really is not. Yes, I also hate it when people say the economy is excellent, when it's really in the tubes. I want the truth and nothing but it. I just discoverd that we've steadily hung around 4.7% unemployment for Jan-March of this year. That's an entire quarter. Yet many folks still say we have a poor, declining economy. We're creating one or two hundred thousand jobs each month overall. However, the "experts" told us we would create two or three hundred thousand jobs. Just because these "experts'" predictions weren't met, our economy isn't doing well. What's wrong? Why didn't we make all those jobs we should have made? It's stupid. If they're experts, why are they always wrong?
