It's been a long week

I've felt like I woke up on the wrong side of someone else's bed every day this week. Oh wait, I have. It's only Wendesday. Grrr.

I feel like the dogs are out to get me at the place I'm housesitting. They seem to take every opportunity to do something I don't want them to do--eating 1/2 of a pizza, using the trash to create some sort of modern art all over the floor (twice), waking me up 18 minutes before my alarm is supposed to go off. They've learned how to open cabinets (with child locks) and can now get things off the counters. I either have to put stuff behind an actual closed door or in another room. These dogs are crazy! I like the dogs when they're good, but they sure do know how to be bad.

My cousin, who is 2 years younger than me, just got married about a month ago. My mom just called yesterday to tell me that her new husband - who is an adventurous fellow - was ice climbing and fell ~600 vertical feet (plus many horizontal feet - a mountain is angled, you know) after his ice ax hit solid ice on the wall (rather than snow) and didn't go in. Luckily, a group of former Eagle Scouts were on a reunion hike nearby, saw him fall, and went to the rescue. He broke his ankle and cheekbone, and had skull fractures. Apparantly, he's recovering VERY quickly, which is amazing. Please keep the family in your prayers. See the story here.

That call came right after I read an email saying that my pastor's sister-in-law (wife's sister) died of cancer.

It's only Wednesday. Grrr.

On the brighter side...
Many of you probably don't know that I'm starting a new student org here at UNT called the North Texas Eagle Association (NTEA) for Eagle Scouts. We'll basically supply ourselves as extra adult help for local troops, as this is a common need, along with doing fun and adventure-filled things on our own. Well I've made contact with the different districts in the Denton area, and it's going well. I still haven't heard whether we've officially been recognized by the school yet, so I guess I'll go over there and talk to them about it. Anyway, I'm psyched and can't wait to get started with that!

I play guitar in the band (Velcro Body) who plays for the youth group on Wednesday nights at Denton Bible Church. It's pretty sweet. Ricchuiti hooked me up. Tonight we're doing something different - Velcro Body Lite, if you will. It's just Mark (guitar, vocals), me (guitar, maybe vocals), and Andy (jembe). Normally, I play electric, Ricchuiti's on the drums, we've got Brando singing also, and in place of a bassist - Luke on the cello. I'm looking forward to tonight. It should be good.

Two more days...two more days...
