It seems to me that either bored or selfish people don't like the idea of Labor Day as a holiday. Labor Day is a unique holiday to celebrate all that has been labored over, especially those that don't get the advantage of having a summer break. Don't forget, not everyone gets a break for three months from their jobs. A question that I hold is "How much do you know about the history of Labor Day?" Do you even know why we celebrate it? Maybe that would help change your mind about the holiday. Here is what Labor Day is. I use the US Department of Labor to answer this question. "Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country." (http://www.dol.gov/opa/aboutdol/laborday.htm) There should be a holiday that gives the working class a chance to look back at what's been done and achieved. When you see what's been completed or almost finished, it will give you strength to continue in your occupation. It should be a holiday. Should it be a holiday in which there should be no school? I think you would have an easier time tackling that question than saying Labor Day shouldn't be a holiday.

You're clearly well-educated. It's hard to argue against that.
