I got a card from my grandparents in the mail like 2 weeks ago, so I've just been watching it, as it taunts me on my desk. That is, until today. I just opened it, read the card, and put the cash in my wallet. The writing on the inside is DEFINATELY NOT my grandpas. It looks a lot like my grandma's, and said "Thought you would enjoy money better than a gift. I don't do much shopping anymore," along with the typical birthday wishes. (In case you don't know, she has Alzheimer's and her condition is steadily declining. There's no way that she could write this well any more.)
So either (1) my grandpa had one of my grandma's sisters write it for him, or (2) my grandma wrote out cards for each grandkid for several years ahead when they found out she had Alzheimer's. My pick is #1, but I have no idea.

happy birthday ben. i hope you have a superb day.
My pick is #2. It makes for a better drama story. One about a grandmother who knew that there would be a time when she couldn't write a birthday card. So back in the 80s, when you were born, she wrote them waiting for the time when it would be sent.
Also, "The writing on the inside is DEFINATELY NOT my grandpas." (a quote from your blog) "definately" is spelled "definitely," but that's minor. I think we all want to hope on the g-ma story.
[don't care about spelling that much]
As it turns out, I think my Grandma did write the card. My mom said she actually can write OK, which I didn't know. Sorry too disappoint all who were shooting for one of the possible outcomes mentioned above; it was neither.
