JACB

So the little band I'm in practiced at my house for like 5 hours today. We're playing in a Battle of the Bands thing at Clark Grill on April 5 (which you will be attending), and we wanted to get a set list down. But today, we were able to run through each song a couple times, then the entire set once. It was amazing. We even had a long lunch, and played with my dog between songs. I don't know how we were able to do all of that, but I'm glad we were.

We're trying to do as many origial songs as we can, which is cool. I have about 9 songs I've written myself, but I'm very self-concious about them. I've only played some for a handfull of people, and some I haven't EVER played for anyone. But it was really cool today because I forced myself to play a couple for the other 3 guys in the band. They really liked a couple, and we worked together to make it performance-worthy. Most of the songs I write are on the acoustic guitar, just because I'm usually too lazy to get out all my electric guitar stuff. Therefore, most of my songs are slower and/or softer. But today, the other guys helped me change up one to like a rock song. I sounds really good. I love it.

We haven't ever really played anywhere before, though we've had several band names. They include Eternal Stairmaster, Clarktomaniacs, and Knight's Bridge. But over dinner, Curtis, Andy, and I decided we needed a change. One of the names we considered was The Log-Chucking Beavers (inside joke), but we decided it was a bit too silly. So, we used the first initial of each of our names (Josh, Andy, Curtis, and Ben) to make the new name: JACB, pronounced "Jacob". I like it. We thought of that a while back, but a bunch of our friends didn't like it. But now, we're more concerned with finding something WE like, rather than what others like.
