Good Times Were Had By All

I'm exhausted. One week ago today, Nelson and I began our road trip to Del Rio, TX to visit Ricchuiti. ...by way of Dublin, TX of course. I got a case of Dublin Dr. Pepper. It's sooooo yummy. Bethany made us some cookies for our trip, which were also sooooo yummy. Andy didn't know that Ryan was coming, so it was fun to surprise him (i.e., scare the living daylights out of him).

I played guitar for both services at the Ricchuiti's church on Sunday (Andy's dad is the pastor there), which was amazing. It turns out that my cousin Sam, who is in pilot training in the Air Force in Del Rio goes to that church. I saw him, and had lunch with him and some of his friends at their house just outside of town. We chilled with the Ricchuitis and Andy's friend Lawrence, his wife Courtney, and her family that night. Amazing. If Lawrence wasn't married, I'd take him to Massachusetts and marry him myself. Ok, not really. But almost.

We messed around Monday, and played with my new toy = tons of fun. The three of us (Andy, Ryan, and I) spent the night at Lawrence and Courtney's place, then we all went to Lake Jackson (just south of Houston) the next morning. There, we saw Rachel Stanley, a friend of ours from UNT. She has a huge house and a huge yard. 4 others from UNT came down from Denton as well, so there were like 15 or 20 people there, including the Stanley family. We all stayed at their house. Wow. It was crazy cool. We played frisbee in the rain, made big fire on the beach, played lots of cards, and ate even more food. It was glorious.

As I had a final test Thursday at 6pm for my summer class, Ryan and I decided to leave at 9am. The Del Rio trio decided to go with us and shop in Houston briefly before heading back, so the 5 of us left but couldn't find a breakfast restaurant anywhere. No IHOP, no Waffle House, nothing but donut shops. So we settled for, I believe it was called Benny's Donuts in some no-name town. That was a mistake. The coffee was bad, the classifieds were hilarious to read, and the dounts were only OK. Oh well. Such is life. The Beretta parted ways with Cressida shortly thereafter, and we made our separate ways home.

Nelson and I got back to Denton around 3:30, I studied for about an hour-and-a-half, ate dinner, and went to give back the monkey off my back that was Business Law. I ended up with a B in the class. Good enough for Ben. It was a crazy week. I drove about 1200 miles, skipped a 4-hour class, made big fire, saw tons of friends, took a final test for the class I skipped earlier in the week, and it was totally worth it. Talking with Ryan and Andy yesterday, I confirmed that good times were had by all.

I slept one night in my bed, worked Friday, and this weekend I'm house-sitting for some friends. I'm running sound for Kids' village this weekend, and I don't feel like I've relaxed enough from the trip. While I did sleep in until about 11 or so this morning, the dogs disrupted the slumber two or three times to eat and pee. Oh well. Such is life.
