The Test

Well...tomorrow is the big day. Tomorrow, I will take the AFOQT to determine if I can be an officer in the United States Air Forcce. I am nervous. Very nervous. Mostly because this is something that I've wanted almost as long as I can remember, and I hate taking standardized tests. Most of the stuff is pretty basic - not to unlike the SAT. But some of it is pretty tough. Like, do you know what chemical the bean and pea plant families release into the soil to improve the soil's condition? Neither do I.

It's kind of like an SAT on steroids - some basic math, reading, grammar, etc. But then you're tested on a higher level - some chemistry, engineering, electronics, etc. I guess that makes sense since we're all supposed to have a college degree. They want to know how much you know. And also, since EVERYONE takes the test, different sections are weighed differently based on which job you want.

They're putting me up in a hotel downtown tonight so they can wake me up at 4am. Yeah, that's right. Four o'clock in the morning. Very AM. My dad said all that is probably a part of the test. Did you show up on time to the hotel to check in? Are you awake enough to take a test? Did you get pissed off when they came in to wake you up? etc.... That makes sense. So in preperation, I've been gradually waking up earlier and earlier each day this week. Today was 4:30. Yesterday, 5:15. Tuesday, 6:00. Monday, 6:45. Tomorow, 4:00. Yikes. Did I mention I'm nervous? I'll probably get the results next Friday. I'll have a meeting with my recruiter to see how I did, which jobs I qualify for, etc.

I don't normally get nervous for tests. It's a strange feeling for me. I hate being nervous.
