belated Rant of the Week

So I discovered something today to rant about...

It's quite amazing that vehicles are able to drive around the streets of UNT between classes. The majority of our more than 30,000 students are wondering around like little ants on a disturbed anthill. And what's worse, they have virtually complete disregard for the US traffic system. No crosswalk? That's OK! The street isn't that wide anyway! There was a girl who walked across a crosswalk but one of those large, extra-long construction dump truck things had already started across the intersection. Now, if you don't know what I'm talking about, imagine something the length of a semi but looks more like a dump truck. It's a lot of truck to stop once it gets moving. I don't know how it was able to stop, but it did before it hit the girl. She was totally oblivious, too, talking on the phone or something. But it seems like students just assume that they have the right-of-way when walking on campus. If you've ever been to New York City, you know what I'm talking about. People just crossing where ever and whenever they please. This causes large traffic pile-ups, which may not last long, but are very stressful for drivers, I'm sure (at least it would be for me). Maybe we need some traffic lights on campus. I don't know. Or maybe people just need to wake up and remember that they are walking across a ROAD, not a GRASSY KNOLL.

That is all.

you should have seen my driving around the osu campus trying to get to a point that was impossible to get to due to one-way streets and streets closed to traffic during school hours...
...my solution, i drove through the closed streets and then through this large breezeway thing between two buildings to get where i needed to go! normal traffic laws don't apply on college campuses.
