Consumer Christians

So the music and tech teams from church went together to see another church tonight. It's an interesting idea: go somewhere where nobody knows you so you can just worship. No music to rehearse; no one asking you questions; no technical things to worry about. You just worship. We went to The Village Church in Highland Village, just outside of Flower Mound. The Village is very similar to our church, only bigger. They probably have like 3000 members, whereas we might only have 200-300. Even though we do similar things, they appear to be more successful since there's more people.

However, they are mostly people ages 18-30 --> college students. We're poor. We don't have much money (if any) to tithe on. Thus, the church has very little money. To compound the problem, there are many people who do the same thing we did: go to their own church Sunday morning, then go to The Village Sunday night. The problem with this is that those "Consumer Christians," as the pastor said, do not tithe to The Village. They have even more people with even less money flowing in. This is a problem for a non-profit organization.

Anyway...I liked it a lot. I think I'm going to start going there every Sunday night. There's a couple of people in my dorm who go there, so I might try to go with them. (especially since I don't have a car) All in all, it was a great experience.

I'm tired. Why do I stay up so late all the time? Stop it!

Good night.
