Words from back home

If you haven't been told yet, America was once a British colony. That's right. I know, it's hard to believe we used to be British. In fact, many of us probably have some ancestor who was British. But now we are our own country. We are American.*

That being said, I think we should bring back some vocabulary from the Brits. Like "sack". I think we should sack employees instead of firing them. Or sack Presidents instead of impeaching them. That word makes things sound so much more exciting, don't you think?



* I've always been confused about this term - American. I mean, Mexico is in North America. Aren't they, too, Americans? And what about Paraguay? They're in South America. American. It's a bit strange if you ask me. Now, I'm not sure what else we would be called. I mean, the Soviets came from the Soviet Union and the Russians come from the Russian Federation. So I guess Americans would come from the United States of America. Whatever....
