Ah, homecoming. Long-lost friends, grilled food, good football, happy alumni.
That is, unless you were at UNT. UNT's football team blows. I mean hard. If you don't believe me, see for yourself. The game was quite unpleasant. Which is why I left after the 3rd quarter to go see a play.
Friday night, I drove out to Denton after work to see Marisa in A Clockwork Orange. Unfortunately, due to car issues, I didn't make it before they closed the house. Curses! So when the Mean Green were doing so terribly in the 3rd quarter on Saturday, I left to go catch another showing of the play. I thought that each individual actor did quite well, but the play just didn't come together on the whole for me. I finally decided that it was the venue. It was rather small, which hadn't been a problem in past plays. But with this one, I was intently aware that I was watching a play throughout. Whatever.
Over the weekend, I crashed at Ricchuiti's place. You may be thinking, ANDY Ricchuiti? I thought he died or something. You'd be wrong. He's very much not-dead. It was good to finally see him and catch up, and I hope we won't go months without seeing each other again. (ahem...ANDY...cough cough)
I got to see people from school and such. Johnny O. even organized a homecoming ultimate disc game. It was hot (as in, not cold like we expected) and I got tired fast. But it was a grand ol' time.

I started to realize something though: I don't really belong there anymore. At UNT, that is. Most of the people I know there are young. The simple fact that I have graduated and they haven't drastically exaggerates the issue. The football isn't anything to come back for. Some people have moved away, others are about to, and those few who I am a bit close to don't see me much. Maybe just on a Sunday after church or something.
I'm starting to make new friends through home groups at church. This is good. I just want it to be easy. And it's not. Anyway, I'm tired of typing, and I should go home, so I'll expand on this more another day.
jumper out.
